34 ha in Grand Maupertuis
which is generally considered to be the best part
A discreet touch of wood frames mildly reduced aromas such that I would strongly advise decanting this if you’re going to sacrifice a bottle in the interest of “science”
black olive and even some tarry notes feature prominently in this medium to full-bodied wine thats supple
plus some Old World hints of meat and earth
Haut Bages Liberal Vintage:2009 34 ha in Grand MaupertuisThe 2010 Haut Bages Libral does not quite convey the same lift on the nose as its peers, not as cohesive. There is a very slight metallic element underneath the black fruit. The palate is medium bodied with firm tannins, good acidity, plenty of tertiary black fruit with a liberal sprinkling of cracked black pepper on the slightly raw finish. Fresh, but I was expecting more from this cru. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10 Year On Bordeaux horizontal.
